Thursday August 9th - attended the grand opening of the new dance, music and acting school Ambition Arts - 16 Main St S. It a wonderful new business filling a needed gap in local kids activities. Its great to see businesses filing the empty spots in our downtown core.
Sunday August 12th - walked around Leathertown Festival with the family taking in all the sigh and sounds. Stopped and talked w/some excellent vendors(Ambition Arts, Artsy Phartsy) and local organizations (Acton Curling club - excited for their introduction night and learning to curl program) including my colleagues from the Acton Rotary Club
Saturday August 18th - started my door to door delivery of my campaign flyers, stopping and talking with residents out taking advantage of the nice day. Got some help from my daughter who acted as the best ambassador I could have. Walked Churchill R N, Lasby Lane, Sommerville Rd, Bonnette St, Pearl Crt, and Cedar Rd. Delivered about 500 flyers (It was good day!)
Sunday August 19th - took the kids to the Legion fishing derby which was a wonderful time. Well run (thanks!) and an excellent family outing. Great to see all the young families out having fun catching fish!
Saturday & Sunday August 25th/26th - another day of door to door campaigning (rain didn't deter me from getting out and meeting residents). Was in following areas; Browns Cres, Hurst St, Tanners Dr, Churchill Rd S, Salmon Way, Kenny St and Sprowl St. Stopped and talked with some enthusiastic residents about challenges in the town. Put up some signs along Churchill Rd S coming into town, Highway 25 going and coming into town and one along the bend in the road along Young St. and Eastern Ave.
Saturday September 8th - great day of door to door campaigning - visited Kingham Rd (all the townhouses), Greenore Cres, and Campbell Court.
Week of September 8th to 15th - spent most of the week out in “rural” Acton, areas like Crewson Corners, 32 Side Rd, 4th Line, 22 Side Rd, 25 Side Rd, Dublin Line, Davidson Drive, and Trillium Terrace,.
Saturday September 15th - sold beer tokens all day at Head for the Hills Craft Beerfest (see photo on the Independent Website). Was a great day, couldn’t have asked for better weather. Looking forward to next year. Great to see the Mayor enjoying the festivities and some Councillors volunteering their time.
Saturday September 22nd - spent all day campaigning door to door. I really do enjoy going door to door meeting and talking with residents, you can really understand their concerns. Heard some interesting news about new houses on McDonald, issues with trees not being cut down or not being replaced. Fabulous discussion with local business owner who agrees we need to refine process of business opening and also the type of business we attract to town. It is a great way to see all the different places around town. Visited Beardmore Cres, Dairy Dr, Acton Blvd, Norman Ave. Early in the week visited, Nelles St, Rennie St, Dawkins Cres, and Peel St.
Tuesday September 25th - What a wonderful evening last night at the Acton Town Hall for the debate! A BIG thank you to everyone that helped to organize the night.
Great to hear from all the candidates. What I heard last night reinforces the idea that as a residents of Acton, we need to make a decision to either keep things the same for another 4 years, and have the same discussion about issues we have been having for years, or take action and decide it is time for a new direction and ideas. If you missed the debate in person or the live feed, Acton Up will be posting it online very shortly, I recommend you watch it.
Upcoming Events !
Saturday September 29th - walking the streets, campaigning door to door. On to a new pair of shoes, been doing doing so muck walking they just couldn’t handle it. IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED ONE OF MY FLYERS, IT HAS BEEN DELIVERED PERSONALLY BY ME, MY DAUGHTER, SON OR WIFE. My daughter is now is stating to say vote for her for town council. Its very important that we teach our children the importance of voting and also giving back to the community.
